US National's Credit Union Salary Survey reports nonprofit compensation survey data for 148 benchmark jobs, accompanied by verifying source comparisons used by the IRS, courts, and 10,000 subscribers. Abbott, Langer Association Surveys is the sponsor of this 2010 participant and digitized wage, incentive, and compensation survey for credit union entities, available by organization size, nationally or by state.
IRS Form 990 has been dramatically revised as it relates to executive salaries; review the changed form, instructions, and rationale for the changes at the charities section of the IRS website. Organizations must report on the process of setting top management pay and, according to the IRS, that process should include the following:
Review and approval by a board;
No person involved in compensation decisions having a conflict of interest; and
Use of comparable data (salaries for like jobs in like organizations under like circumstances)
Two pages of credit union information are reported for each of 148 benchmark jobs, including job descriptions, total annual direct compensation, survey means, survey medians, percentiles, allowances, graphs with data points vs. years of experience, and trended demographic estimates from ERI'sGeographic Assessor and Pay Survey. See ERI newsletters for other compensation issues, salary increase plan surveys, and, for for-profit data, 120 additional ERI Salary Surveys. ERI has joined Abbott, Langer and PAQ Services in hosting PAQComp, offering free ERI databases within +/- one standard deviation of the mean, sufficient for the needs of most nonprofits; see PAQ's A Note for Attorneys & CPAs. For large and complex tax-exempt entities that require more detailed comparables, see ERI'sComparables Nonprofit Assessor; order via GuideStar to allow sharing of revenue and expense.
Assessor Series graphs include ERI's patented "click on a dot" feature that retrieves source documents via the web. The graph below is derived from
