Retirement Care and Human Services Salary Survey
(NAICS: 6233, SIC: 805, NTEE: P0, eSIC: 805-8059)

US National's Retirement Care and Human Services Salary Survey reports nonprofit compensation survey data for 143 benchmark jobs, accompanied by verifying source comparisons used by the IRS, courts, and thousands of subscribers. ERI Salary Surveys is the sponsor of this 2011 participant and digitized wage, incentive, and compensation survey for retirement care services entities, available by organization size, nationally or by state.

IRS Form 990 has been dramatically revised as it relates to executive salaries; review the changed form, instructions, and rationale for the changes at the charities section of the IRS website. Organizations must report on the process of setting top management pay and, according to the IRS, that process should include the following:

  • Review and approval by a board;
  • No person involved in compensation decisions having a conflict of interest; and
  • Use of comparable data (salaries for like jobs in like organizations under like circumstances)
The Retirement Care and Human Services Salary Survey reports market-based pay data for 31 executive compensation and salary comparisons and 112 non-management salary benchmark jobs. Verifying sources include ERI's exclusively licensed Executive Compensation Assessor and Salary Assessor (both with for-profit data), along with ERI's Nonprofit Comparables Assessor and Tax-Exempt Survey databases.

Two pages of retirement care services information are reported for each of 143 benchmark jobs, including job descriptions, total annual direct compensation, survey means, survey medians, percentiles, allowances, graphs with data points vs. years of experience, and trended demographic estimates from ERI's Geographic Assessor and Pay Survey. See ERI newsletters for other compensation issues, salary increase plan surveys, and, for for-profit data, 120 additional ERI Salary Surveys. For large and complex tax-exempt entities that require more detailed comparables, see ERI's Nonprofit Comparables Assessor; order via GuideStar to allow sharing of revenue and expense.
