Mental Health Hospitals and Services Salary Survey
(NAICS: 6222, SIC: 803, NTEE: F0, eSIC: 803-8039)

Rhode Island's Mental Health Hospitals and Services Salary Survey reports nonprofit compensation survey data for 157 benchmark jobs, accompanied by verifying source comparisons used by the IRS, courts, and 10,000 subscribers. Abbott, Langer Association Surveys is the sponsor of this 2010 participant and digitized wage, incentive, and compensation survey for mental health hospitals and services entities, available by organization size, nationally or by state.

IRS Form 990 has been dramatically revised as it relates to executive salaries; review the changed form, instructions, and rationale for the changes at the charities section of the IRS website. Organizations must report on the process of setting top management pay and, according to the IRS, that process should include the following:

  • Review and approval by a board;
  • No person involved in compensation decisions having a conflict of interest; and
  • Use of comparable data (salaries for like jobs in like organizations under like circumstances)
The Mental Health Hospitals and Services Salary Survey reports market-based pay data for 27 executive compensation and salary comparisons and 130 non-management salary benchmark jobs. Verifying sources include ERI's July 2010 exclusively licensed Executive Compensation Assessor and Salary Assessor (both with for-profit data), along with ERI's Comparables Nonprofit Assessor and Tax-Exempt Survey databases.

Two pages of mental health hospitals and services information are reported for each of 157 benchmark jobs, including job descriptions, total annual direct compensation, survey means, survey medians, percentiles, allowances, graphs with data points vs. years of experience, and trended demographic estimates from ERI's Geographic Assessor and Pay Survey. See ERI newsletters for other compensation issues, salary increase plan surveys, and, for for-profit data, 120 additional ERI Salary Surveys. ERI has joined Abbott, Langer and PAQ Services in hosting PAQComp, offering free ERI databases within +/- one standard deviation of the mean, sufficient for the needs of most nonprofits; see PAQ's A Note for Attorneys & CPAs. For large and complex tax-exempt entities that require more detailed comparables, see ERI's Comparables Nonprofit Assessor; order via GuideStar to allow sharing of revenue and expense.
