While the median President "A" in this group has a total annual income of $191,331, the highest-income individuals reported in this group make well over $1,000,000. Toward the bottom of the income spectrum, Customer Service Representatives have a median income of $25,771. Overall Compensation Overall, administrative and professional employees are paid best in the Pacific, southern, and northeastern states and least well in the Rocky Mountain and midwestern states. The north central and southwestern states fall in the middle. For the sales/marketing group of employees, the highest income is found in the northeastern and southwestern states, while the lowest is found in the midwestern, Rocky Mountain, and southern states, with the Pacific and north central states in between. In descending order, MIS/dp employees are paid best in the northeastern, Rocky Mountain, north central, Pacific, southern, and midwestern states. For the financial group of employees, the highest income is found in the Pacific and midwestern states, with the lowest income found in the north central, southwestern, and southern states, with the Rocky Mountain and northwestern states in the middle. Clerical workers are paid best in the Rocky Mountain, north central, and northeastern states and the least in the Pacific, southwestern, and midwestern states. The southern states fall in the middle range. In descending order, the maintenance & repair group of employees are paid best in the northeastern, midwestern, and north central states. For the editorial group of employees, the income is highest in the southwestern, Rocky Mountain, southern, and northeastern states; lowest in the Pacific, north central, and midwestern states. Material acquisition/control/movement employees receive the best income in the Pacific, midwestern, and north central states and the lowest in the Rocky Mountain, northeastern, and southern states. Income for the production group of employees is highest in the northeastern and north central states. It is lowest in the southern and Pacific states, with the midwestern states in the midrange. For the creative group of employees, the northeastern, north central, and Rocky Mountain states pay best, while the southwestern, southern, and midwestern states pay worst. The Pacific states fall in the middle. The best income for circulation/fulfillment/renewal department employees is found - in descending order - in the northeastern, midwestern, southern, and north central states. Advertising/market research/sales promotion jobs receive the best income in the southwestern states, followed by the northeastern and midwestern states. For media/list jobs, income is highest in the north central states, followed by the northeastern and midwestern states. Type of Publication Publishing firms are reported as to which provide the highest income for the groups of employees surveyed. Book publishing firms pay the highest for the clerical, maintenance & repair, creative, advertising/market research/sales promotion, and media/list employees. However, firms that produce two or more types of publications provide the highest income for these groups of employees: MIS/dp; editorial; and circulation/fulfillment/renewal. For administrative & professional, sales/marketing, financial, and production employees, the highest income is in firms that publish magazines. Firms that produce other types of publications provide the highest income for the material acquisition/control/movement jobs.
